Tavo CT Hellmund a Vital Part of the Return of F1 to Mexico City

AUSTIN, Texas — Formula One group CEO Bernie Ecclestone has confirmed that the Mexican Grand Prix will return to Mexico City. According to an article in Forbes, “The plan to revive the Mexican Grand Prix has the backing of an all-star management team which is driven by two key figures. One of those is Tavo Hellmund the creator and mastermind of the F1 USGP and the Circuit of the Americas in Austin.“

Many RacigWest.com readers will remember Tavo (CT) Hellmund as the car owner that hauled from Austin, Texas toLaguna Seca Raceway in Monterey, California to win the NASCAR Winston West race. It was the first NASCAR West race he competed in. He later traded his race helmet for promoter hat and was the originator and organizer behind several NASCAR West races at Kyle, Texas bringing packed stands and major corporate sponsorship. He made a small regional series feel big. His vision has always had a grand view and his determination has been instrumental in the creation of a F1 race in Austin, Texas and a return of F1 in Mexico City

In a Formula 1 article Hellmund is quoted as saying, “Ever since Bernie (Ecclestone) and I began working on a race at Austin, it’s been a dream of mine to help Formula One return to Mexico,”

Hellmund said, “…this announcement has therefore been years in the making, but we’ve gradually been able to assemble all the right pieces. I’m absolutely delighted.” Race Fans will also be delighted that the hard work has paid off. The return of F1 to Mexico City is huge.

The race will run at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguezcircuit in Mexico City. Date for the event is still pending.
