Someone asked me why I would so enthusiastically promote my competitor’s business. In the case of SlotMods, that’s an easy answer- we are not competitors at all. SlotMods builds incredible, completely custom made works of art that happen to run slot cars. These amazing creations are built over a period of several months, with every tree, rock, and other detail carefully selected or crafted by hand. SlotMods tracks are seamless, bent and sculpted hand-routed wood. They are also generally (but not always) analog tracks, with one car racing per lane, and usually require more lanes to race more cars. They frequently cost $100,000 dollars or more, and are out of reach for most individuals and small companies.
Races2U tracks are generally based on manufactured plastic track, with visible joints and some limits on flexibility and design. However, the use of plastic track means a Races2U track can be built in only a few weeks instead of months. While they may contain a great amount of detail, much of the scenery used on Races2U tracks is also manufactured, though some is custom built. Most Races2U tracks (but not all) are digital, which allows multiple cars per lane with lane changing and overtaking, and allows more cars to race in fewer lanes. Using commercially available materials allows both our material and labor costs to be significantly lower, and a custom built Races2U track can be had starting under $10,000, making them a more affordable option for smaller companies and individuals that are not among the jet set.
To compare them to cars, SlotMods is a Bugatti, and Races2U is a Ford GT. Both are built to your requirements and desires. Both will be fun to race and lovely to admire. Both are prestigious and exclusive, but only a very select few can have the artisanship, and it comes at a price.
