Races2U just participated in the Illinois Government Finance Officers Association conference in Bloomington-Normal Illinois. The event was held at the lovely Bloomington Marriott from September 7-9, and there were several hundred attendees and exhibitors from all over the state and elsewhere. It was a great experience for us to be in the heart of the country’s breadbasket. Everyone was very friendly and polite, and many were die-hard NASCAR fans that recognized the cars we had on the track. The track was about 18′ long and 6′ wide, and accommodated up to 6 racers and one computer controlled car at a time. Attendees were required to attend various breakout sessions and visit at least 20 vendors at the conference and get their “licenses” stamped before they were able to race and compete for prizes. Everyone had a great time, and our winners worked hard to earn their trophies, some of them having raced several times to sharpen their skills. Of course, what would a visit to Illinois be without some famous Chicago culinary delights! Nothing like a Vienna Beef dog and a Giordanno’s deep dish pizza to round out our Midwest adventure.
