This past weekend was perfect for two of the more interesting annual car shows that take place in Central Texas each October. Saturday was the Buda Gearheads show, featuring many American classics, hot rods, and muscle cars from the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s though there were a few others there as well. Sunday was the VW Harvest in Leander, with air-cooled Volkswagens from the same era. The two shows have a lot in common, aside from the years of the cars. Both shows are put on and display all the hard work, ingenuity, and craftsmanship of dedicated owners, and the hundreds of hours of time put into these cars. It is obvious that these drivers are dedicated to their vehicles, and keeping them running and in excellent condition is a labor of love. Both of these shows are also family friendly, with lots of entertainment, from music to raffles to our slot car racing. If you live anywhere within a hundred miles of Austin, these are great events worth putting on your calendar for next year!
